Based in Barcelona, ​​the production company led by Ángeles Hernández and David Matamoros has stood out in recent years by producing and/or co-producing more than twenty feature films, both fiction and animation. The previous experience in the Zentropa group provided the basis for Mr. Miyagi made the balanced approach between the author’s vision and production needs the cornerstone of the production company. The result is a wide range of films where artistic freedom is combined with financial, administrative and legal demands.

Mr Miyagi develops, produces and co-produces live-action and animation feature films and series. They combine renowned directors, screenwriters and cast with new talent. Proof of this is the selections and awards at internationally renowned festivals, such as Berlin, Toronto, Sitges, San Sebtasián, Goa, Málaga or Fantaspoa; and nominations and awards for Gaudí, Goya or Quirino.

Some of the award-winning films released in theaters around the world are Issac, the first film co-directed by the two executive producers; Los Amantes Astronautas, Argentine-Spanish co-production directed by Marco Berger; and “Hanna and the Monsters”, the first film in Hanna’s animated series; among many others. They have also achieved success on platforms, such as the example of the film El Hoyo, which was the most watched non-English language film on Netflix in 2020 and already has more than 82 million views.
